WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 – Made in Germany is a promise. The promise to deliver an unparalleled competition in a setting that offers a rich cultural and historical experience.

Leipzig and Saxony
Leipzig and Saxony have long been a hub of continental trade in the centre of Europe. A bridge between North and South and between East and West - and an excellent ´Gateway to the East´ for WorldSkills International and for further enhancing the WorldSkills image and promoting its mission worldwide.

Accommodation for Delegates, Experts and Competitors
Competitors at WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 can be accommodated on the Leipzig University campus. There ar 14 dormitories accommodating over 5,000 students all of which have been built or renovated.

The german Dual System
WorldSkills 2013 will give Competitors, Experts and visitors from WorldSkills member countries and regions the opportunity to gain an insight into Germany´s Dual System first hand - both at a general and at an industrie - and skill-specific level.

Benefits of the German bid for WSI mission
Germany´s bid is based on the WorldSkills mission. Our support for this is demonstrated by more than fifty years of commitment to WorldSkills, the qualities of our vocational educational system and by the outstanding professional and social status enjoyed by skills and master trades in Germany.

High-Tech  
German industry is looking forward to providing Competitors and Experts with state-of-the-art technology and equipment for exciting high-tech competitions and benchmarking.

The Stakeholders
The German bid is led by SkillsGermany, the national skills organisation and Germany´s official representative to WorldSkills International. SkillsGermany has a mandate from the Federal Goverment, represented by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

The key stakeholders in the bid for WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 are the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the Free State of Saxony, the City of Leipzig, and the Leipziger Messe (Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre) in addition to numerous prestigious companies and associations, educational institutes, and leading political and economic personalities.

To fulfil this goals

  • Our focus will be on young people, innovation and knowledge, ensuring that they are aware of the benefits of skills for their future.
  • We will give young people recognition and ideas for the future, influencing their lives long after the Competition.
  • Basing all our activities on the Dual System principle, we will ensure a strong focus on current practice.
  • We will offer top-quality competitions with state-of-the-art technology and products and excellent services.
  • We will take great care to maintain the content and quality of the competitions and to promote Competitors’ focus.
  • We will ensure that WorldSkills competitions are staged as exciting contests in the heart of Europe, that they gain international attention, and give the Competitors the recognition they deserve.
  • We will require and promote preparation through dialog with the Experts worldwide.
  • We will open the doors of German companies and colleges to make our contribution to advancing both the Competition and vocational education and training.
  • We will demonstrate the benefits of exchange between Experts worldwide.
  • We will deliver a supporting program – from the Leaders Forum to supporting events and conferences – that reflects the latest innovations and developments that Germany and the world have to offer.
