Sustainability and Green Competitions
A leader in many aspects of sustainability, Germany will ensure that the idea of sustainable
Green Competitions is nurtured and developed at WorldSkills Leipzig 2013.
Choosing Germany as a host country for a convention is a ‘green choice’.
For example, wherever possible, completed test projects will have a second use and materials will be recycled.
Sustainability is an important issue, and Germany has created sustainability strategy guidelines.
WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 will set a clear trend and this will be reflected in the way the Competition
is organised and in the supporting program. For this reason there will be a special focus on new
competitive disciplines in the fields of environment and energy.
Germany attaches great importance to growth and sustainability. The WorldSkills movement
and the Competitions themselves are steadily growing – WorldSkills 2013 will probably be larger
than any Competition before. We share the WorldSkills goal of growth in harmony with competition
development and the quality demands of a world-class competition. We will do our utmost to contribute
to sustainable growth of the WorldSkills movement.
