Greetings from Mr. Burkhard Jung -
Mayor of the City of Leipzig

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As Mayor of Leipzig, I am delighted that Leipziger Messe is submitting a bid to host WorldSkills 2013 on behalf of the Federal State of Saxony, because training and education are key to the continued competitiveness of the German economy. A WorldSkills Competition held in our city would further enhance the reputation of German professional training and Leipzig would provide perfect conditions for hosting the event. In addition to its state-of-the-art Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre and vast experience in organizing prestigious and ambitious events, Leipzig is home to countless educational institutions including the 600-yearold University of Leipzig (the second-oldest in Germany), several universities of applied sciences, professional schools, as well as many other educational and research institutions.

In addition, our tradition-conscious but innovative city has an attractive cityscape, provides a wide range of cultural offerings, and boasts great culinary diversity, a hospitable, cosmopolitan citizenry and a unique atmosphere – no matter whether you live here or visit.

I am therefore convinced that Leipzig will be the perfect host for a successful WorldSkills 2013. I can assure you that we are already looking forward to welcoming 200,000 guests from almost fifty countries. I promise that we will give our most committed support all the way from the preparations to the actual WorldSkills 2013 Competition in our city.

Sincerely,

Burkhard Jung,
Mayor of the City of Leipzig
