Car Painting

As a Body Painter (Autolackierer) you will apply different kinds of coatings, such as anti-corrosive primers, primer filler and paint, to interior and exterior car parts.
You repair minor damage to the paint and the body by using a variety of techniques, such as filling dents with polyester fillers or applying anti-corrosive primers. Of course, dry grinding for all repair procedures as well as painting and finishing are a large part of your job. Applying decoration, such as rally stripes, colour accents or adhesive foil, are part of the job description as well.

Automobile Technology

An Automobile Technician (in Germany called Kraftfahrzeugmechatroniker (motor vehicle mechatronics technician)) is a person working mainly in garages and workshops specialising in car diagnosis, repair and maintenance.
As a technician, you must be able to understand the function of various systems (e.g. steering and suspension systems) and perform fault diagnostics, maintenance and repair works. You also have to think and work logically and systematically and comply with health and safety rules.

Aircraft Maintenance

As an Aeroplane Maintenance Technician (Flugzeuginstandhaltungstechniker) you will mainly work in a so-called AMO (Aircraft Maintenance Organisation) and will be involved with the inspection, maintenance, fault diagnostics, upgrade, installation and repair of aeroplane systems. After completing your works, you must sign for all executed maintenance works. This means a lot of responsibility for you because, being a licensed specialist, you are authorised to clear the aeroplane for operation.
In theoretical and practical training you learn everything about airframes and engines, airscrews and all related mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electric equipment of the aeroplane as well as its aviation electronics.

Autobody Repair

The most important field of activity of a Car Body Mechanic (Karosseriebaumechaniker) is the professional repair of damages caused by accidents. Important activities are welding, surface alignment, body alignment and inspecting. As a car body mechanic you will also be required to build new parts. This is primarily required in vehicle construction or in restoring vintage cars when new parts are often no longer available or very expensive.
During the World Championship of Professions the candidates must, for example, align a raw body and renew the entire front end. Other works include aligning the car surface or replacing airbags.
