Information Network Cabling

IT Network Technology requires above all manual skills, technical knowledge and solution-oriented thinking.
Being a specialist, you will be facing many different challenges in practice: The assembly of a PC as well as fault-finding in the hardware and software are also part of the job as knowledge in the areas of Microsoft (MSCA), Cisco (CCNA) and Linux (various distributions).
In the WorldSkills network technology competition, there will be several kinds of IT jobs competing to find the best networkers in the PC industry. In this process the IT System Electronics Technicians (IT-Systemelektroniker), the IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker) or  IT Management Assistant (IT-Kaufmann) will have equal chances to become the best of their subject area.

IT Software Solutions for Business

IT specialists are increasingly required in a wide range of areas, such as the supply of software solutions for the business sector.
As an IT Specialist you are a highly qualified user who has comprehensive knowledge of all applications within a software suite. Your competences can be used in many ways and in a whole range of industries, cultures and languages.
As a Specialist for IT Software Applications (in Germany: Fachinformatiker or Systeminformatiker) you will analyse company requirements and develop goal-oriented solutions by using specific technical knowledge. The IT solutions will then be documented in an easy-to-comprehend manner. Deploying the software applications at a customer location also requires communication and sales capabilities.

IT Network and Systems Administration

As a Network Technician you need many IT-related skills and competences. This line is developing rapidly and the requirements are continuously increasing.
Your tasks will include, for example, the installation of a complex, customer-specific IT solution with workstations, user accounts, servers and network devices as well as the deployment of several operating systems and server software systems. You will also be able to handle cross-company communication solutions and to provide safe and efficient access to the internet and other corporate networks. In addition there will be other customer-oriented services.
In Germany the job descriptions System Integrator (Fachinformatiker Systemintegration), IT System Electronic Technician (IT-System-Elektroniker) or System Technician (Systeminformatiker) belong to this category.

Print Media Technology

The increasing digitalisation of the production, which has long crossed the boundaries of the pre-press stage and has increasingly influenced the qualification requirements, has changed the professional demands for Printers (Drucker). Depending on the printing technology, you will be applying different data processing methods which are summarised under the collective term “Computer-to-Technologies”. Particularly the production of bulk mail is increasingly characterised by automated production processes. Furthermore, your knowledge of process control and planning gain in importance due to the fact that print and handling operations are increasingly integrated with each other.
Since having been reorganised in 2000, you will spend one third of the training duration in one of the four subject areas: surface printing, relief printing, gravure printing and digital printing; the rest will be spent on selectable qualification units.

Web Design

Web design is a dynamic and consistently evolving profession concerned with building and maintaining web pages. As a Web Designer (Webdesigner) (Further Qualification) you will use computer software to create internet presentations, which contain links to other websites, graphic elements, texts and images. The technical realisation requires computer software, open source libraries and frameworks.
You understand the technology and the artistic values related to it. By using colours, fonts and graphics and arranging them on a web page you will apply your creative competences. Planning the user interface enables a satisfying user experience. As a web designer, you must also be knowledgeable in project work, the production of content and the administration of the website.
